Dragon Ball Z: Bid For Power
Size: 636 MB
Platform: PC
Language: English
Genre: Action, Fighting

What is Bid For Power? Bid For Power is a total conversion for QuakeIII that plays nothing like the original game. Players take control of Ki-powered superheroes and battle it out in a mostly aerial fight. The game is highlighted by the work of a great art team and an original style, and the game play is extremely fast paced. It can be difficult to keep up with until you get the hang of it.

BFP started out as a Dragonball Z game, and neared completion as one. They ran into legal problems and had to repopulate the universe with original things. This delayed them quite a bit, but they ended up with a population of unique and cool characters to play.

If you are new to the game be prepared to have a difficult time finding a server. They had about 30 people playing at a time for about a year or two, but it has mostly died out. BFP has also been heavily modified by several different groups using the scripting system, so you may run into compatibility issues.

Description:
Thrill Kill is a cancelled 1998 fighting video game for the Sony PlayStation, which even today is still widely available despite being officially unpublished. Thrill Kill was considered a technical feat for the PlayStation for allowing four players to fight simultaneously in the same room, although this technical feat was overshadowed by the game's brutality and the controversy surrounding it. Set in an urban version of Hell, the characters were all damned souls fighting for another chance in the mortal world, watched over by Marukka, the Goddess of Secrets, who has organized the infernal tournament and promised the winner reincarnation on Earth. Other content included revealing BDSM and fetishistic costumes, characters with amputated limbs and other handicaps and violent and sexual moves with names such as "Bitch Slap", "Swallow This", and "Head Muncher".

X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER for the PlayStation is a port of the arcade game, with a few new twists thrown in to keep it interesting. Namely the team-up aspect has changed, along with some of the moves. This title combines two hugely popular franchises and pits them in battles that rival those seen in the X-MEN comic books. Each character can execute special moves either with a partner or solo, resulting in some devastating attacks that will leave your opponent reeling. Although the game is in 2D with sprite-based graphics, the animation is smooth and the fighting almost resembles a moving comic. The special attacks all look spectacular, often filling the screen with colors and explosions that must be seen to be believed. The combo system may seem difficult to learn at first, but once it's mastered the possibilities are practically endless. X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER is an engrossing fighting game that can be played alone or with a friend, with classic characters ranging from Ryu to Rogue.

X-Men Vs. Street Fighter was released for the Playstation in 1998 and was met with largely negative reviews. Due to the limited RAM the hardware had, Capcom had to change a lot of stuff in this version. The animation in this port was considerably cut down, the frame-rate took a dive and the load times were long. Known as X-Men Vs. Street Fighter EX Edition in Japan, probably because it's extra sucky. The main changes to this version:

*No tag team option. You can select two characters, but you only get to play as the first one. The second can only be called on during tag hyper combos and tag counters.

*Fights are now in the traditional best 2 of 3 rounds format.

*Vitality recharging is still in but you just have to try and avoid taking hits for several to get the red part of the vitality gauge to turn green.

It isn't all bad news though as this version is the only one that lets you play as Apocalypse without resorting to hacking, plus there are training and survival modes (neither of which are present in the Saturn version) but overall, this port isn't good.

The fall of the Fourth Empire and death of Bilstein were momentous occasions when they happened last year, but still not all is will in the galaxy. Rumors have begun to circulate about the appearance of Bilstein's ghost haunting the planet Zeta, and that's extremely inconvenient for the citizens. You'll choose from 22 unique characters to take through this grand quest, which includes Arcade, Versus, Group Battle, and Training modes. With its emphasis placed squarely on combat, PLASMA SWORD: Nightmare of Bilstein allows you to build up plasma as you, attack resulting in a complex and realistic fighting system that accounts for energy drain, loss of strength, and adrenaline. You'll do your fair share of punching and kicking your way through this adventure, but special weapons and power-ups will help as well. A follow-up to the popular STAR GLADIATOR, this installment provides an in-depth gaming experience for sci-fi fans and gamers alike.

Every year, come hell or high water, there's been a King of Fighters game at the arcades (King of Fighters 2001 is running late, but it's said to be near completion). And after their arcade run, the King of Fighters games are ported to the PSX and the existing Sega system (Saturn - KOF '95-'97 and Dreamcast - KOF '98-2000). I'm here to tell you that SNK makes the best fighting games on the PSX. Period. King of Fighters '98 is a sheer joy to play, eclipsing all the previous King of Fighters games in every way.

Force mode has the character fight a series of enemies in a side-scrolling environment rather than the one-on-one fights of the other modes. The fighting dream match carries on in Capcom vs. SNK 2, an arcade port of the sequel to last year's fighting game that did the unthinkable--it brought together many of the most popular characters from Capcom's and SNK's fighting games. For fans of one company's games or the other's, this was about as outrageous as if Coke and Pepsi were to join forces to make a brand-new cola, or if Sega were to start developing games for Nintendo. Wait, scratch that one. About a year after the release of Capcom vs. SNK, the sense of shock may be gone, but it's still a solid 2D fighting game. The sequel--currently available only in Japan for the Dreamcast, although a PlayStation 2 version is on its way to these shores--is similar. Like most of Capcom's fighting games, it's an incremental enhancement of its predecessor that introduces some welcome new features but just barely enough of them.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 adds some new characters, moves, game mechanics, backgrounds, and music. There's a lot of the same graphics, sounds, and gameplay. The changes in the game will have a more significant impact depending on how serious you are about your 2D fighters. The new additions make the game technically superior to the first, but not necessarily better enough to merit purchase if you already have the first one--let alone the half-baked Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, an intermediate rerelease of the first game with a couple of throwaway characters added and all the hidden characters already unlocked.

The Street Fighter series has long been the measuring stick by which other fighters are measured, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike set a new standard with its amazingly technical fighting style and bold, fluid 2D artwork. 19 determined warriors of varying styles prove their skills in combat. Each fighter has their own reasons for entering the tournament, testing their skills against the greatest martial artists the world has ever seen. Choose your favorite warrior, mastering a huge number of moves and combos. Your skills will be graded by the game's built-in Grade Judge System, so it might be wise to enter the Practice mode or go one-on-one with a friend in Versus mode before you tackle the tournament. These fighters have developed skills so powerful, that by building up a super arts meter during the fight, they are unable to unleash devastating attacks and combos that will send opponents reeling!
